Prepare for birth with knowledge, confidence, and practical tools.

This four week childbirth education course offers a balanced, evidence based approach to understanding labor, birth, and the early postpartum period. Through conversation, visual learning, and hands-on practice, you will gain a realistic picture of what to expect and how to navigate choices with clarity and trust in your own body.

Birth partners encouraged for all sessions – this could be a spouse, doula, friend or family member who will be supporting you during labor and birth.

Childbirth education can be taken at any point in pregnancy. For most families, the third trimester is ideal, but earlier attendance is welcome. This series is appropriate for first-time parents as well as those looking for a refresher or a different perspective for a subsequent birth.

In this course you’ll learn:

Childbirth Education is led by Tara Kenny, a Certified Professional Midwife, Certified Lactation Counselor, and a Certified Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula who has been attending births since 2000 in the Boston area and beyond. Tara brings decades of experience supporting families in homes, birth centers, and hospitals, along with a deep passion for compassionate, informed care and VBAC support. Her teaching reflects a commitment to helping families make empowered, educated choices that fit their values and needs. She is also a Body Ready Method™ Pro and Body Ready Birth™ Instructor. In this workshop you’ll learn:

Newborn Feeding is led by Aarani Montanari, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with a passion for helping mamas and babies on their feeding journeys and the transition to new parenthood. She is experienced working with breastfeeding dyads, exclusive pumpers, bottle feeding, issues with latch and positioning, oversupply, mastitis, bottle refusal, weaning and beyond. She strives to provide inclusive care to all her clients and believes that every family deserves a care plan that feels supportive for their unique needs. She knows firsthand how much of a difference it can make to have support in this vulnerable transition time to parenthood and is honored to walk alongside families in their feeding journeys. Learn what to expect with a newborn! Using the touchstones of ABC – Appearance, Behavior, and Care – we cover all the basics, along with oodles of tips and tricks for ensuring a successful “fourth trimester”. This is a fast-paced class, taught with humor, that touches on many topics that could themselves be entire classes. It is based on years of postpartum experience with new families and designed to provide reassurance and guidance for those families who may not have much experience with babies. 

Newborn Care Essentials is led by Jen Patashnick a Certified Postpartum Doula (CPD), Certified Lactation Educator (CLE), and Certified New Parent Educator (CNPE) thru CAPPA, a Certified Babywearing Educator (CBWE) through the Center on Babywearing Studies, and a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) through Safe Kids Worldwide. She thoroughly enjoys supporting families through their early parenting journeys and fostering connections, helping parents build their village. As part of the LGBTQIA+ community, Jen especially loves supporting non-traditional families, including single and/or older parents, queer and/or trans parents, polyamorous folks, etc., in any and all family arrangements out there.
